The project will generate new scholarly insights as well as digital databases/repositories that may be used by project members, other members of the institution, and the wider academic community in future research and projects concerning multimodal artistic discourses. Given current social, artistic, and technological trends, such discourses are expected to develop rapidly in the future, making this field of inquiry increasingly relevant over time.
Furthermore, the findings of the project will be incorporated into new curricula within teacher education and early childhood education programmes. This is particularly important in light of the Faculty of Teacher Education’s planned introduction of new study programmes in the coming years, which will allow new insights to be integrated into the teaching of various disciplines relevant to the education of teachers and early childhood educators, including children’s literature, children’s film, media culture, comics, digital media, and related fields.
The project is also expected to contribute to a stronger articulation of the interdisciplinary character of undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and specialist study programmes at the Faculty.
In addition, the project should strengthen collaboration among researchers from different disciplinary backgrounds (including the Department of Croatian Language, Literature, Performing and Media Culture; the Department of English Language; the Department of Arts Education; and others), while establishing interdisciplinarity as a lasting foundation of research activity at the Faculty beyond the duration of the project itself. Such an orientation towards interdisciplinary research into multimodal discourses is particularly promising for the future, not least because a significant number of early-career researchers are involved in the project, including six students and doctoral candidates.
Finally, the project is expected to significantly enhance international collaboration, both at the institutional level of the Faculty of Teacher Education and through the individual professional networks and partnerships of the researchers participating in the project.
